The Euro currency was created in 1999 and later adopted by some of the European member countries. Today’s Euro is legal currency in 16 member countries and has grown to include seven denominations. Denominational values consist of: €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 and €500 euro banknotes. Each denomination is printed in a unique color. The 16 member countries have abandoned their old national currencies in exchange for the euro. Members of the public can still convert the old national money into euros.
Euro Banknotes Characteristics
The Euro notes are printed with varying designs representing a single currency of the European Union (EU). Banknotes are the same through out the Union with no single country identification. The front of the Euro notes displays “windows” and doors representing old European architect styles. There are special characters printed in very small letters that can only be read using a magnifying glass.
